4. What are some of the animal’s physical adaptations to its environment?
They have big finger nails. This adaptation enables them to climb farther, higher, faster, and easier.

5. What are some of the organism’s behavioral adaptations to its environment?
These animals are really "shy." They don't like to have other animals around him. Therefore they stay in the middle to upper levels of trees. They like to hang upside down and sit in forks between tree limbs.

6. What is the role of your organism in the food chain? Be specific about role as a producer, consumer or decomposer. If a consumer, then describe the food preferences, like herbivore, carnivore or omnivore.
They are consumers. They are herbivores and prefer to eat leaves and soft twigs.

7. Describe the biome where this organism lives.
This organism lives mostly in places with lots of trees such as Brazil. They like to stay in Tropical Rain forests. They stay here because it has the perfect living conditions for them. Such as the right amount of rain and food. Its the perfect temperature too.

8. Discuss the status of the species. Is it plentiful, threatened, endangered or extinct?
This species is endangered. They are hardly in any places in the world besides South America. But, there are massive amounts if them in the Continent. Pollution is a big reason for them being endangered.

9. How do humans impact your organism? (Hot Tip: Think of the HIPPO dilemma – handout)
Humans Impact the Brazilian 3 toed Sloth with pollution. The pollution can get to the Rain Forest and harm these animals. Most of the pollution comes from factories.

10. Identify the place(s) on the map where your organism lives. Color in the map accordingly.
Green= Where the Brazilian 3 Toed Sloth lives. Red= Other Tropical Rain Forest. They live only in South America. Mostly in Brazil.

11. Amazing facts:
This animal has very small features, it has a small head, tiny eyes and ears, and a small and furry tail. The Brazilian 3 Toed Sloth eats leaves, flower buds, and soft twigs. When the Brazilian 3 toed sloth is on a flat surface it can't stand or walk. They don't have enough balance. Instead, they crawl. They are one of the slowest animals on the planet.

Why Brazilian 3 Toed Sloths only have 3 Toes

Once upon a time, there was a sloth named Jimmy. He lived in Brazil. He had 2 friends, Jeff and Joe. They were tigers. They loved to play games. Tag and Hide N’ Seek were there favorites. One day they were playing Hide N’ Seek in the jungle. Joe was the Seeker and he counted to 30. Jeff and Jimmy went to go hide. But they had to have boundaries because there was a mean lion in the distance. Rumor has it that there once was a little baby cub that went to his house and tried to make a friend. But, the lion ate him all up because he hadn’t had dinner yet. No one has ever seen him again. So Jeff and Jimmy didn’t want to go anywhere near the lions house. Jimmy found a hiding spot in a tree and Jeff hid in the bushes. But the lion found Jimmy. He took him to his house and started to eat his toes. But they tasted so bad he left 3 toes.

That is why they only have 3 toes!!!
